A Royal Story:
GU recently received a call from a women in the Crockett
area about two mistreated greys.
The caller had convinced a man (living nearby) to give
up the greyhounds. His plan was to breed the pair and make
money. The female never went into heat, and he was letting
them starve.
After taking custody of the greyhounds, the lady turned
over Duchess and Royal to GU's
care.
When we picked up Royal, he was underweight and starving.
His fur had scabs beneath it, and it was coming off in patches.
On the first vet visit, the vet said Royal had been burned
with something.
Royal has been on antibiotic to fight infection and is
being treated with medicine baths. We are hoping his fur
will grow back eventually with treatments. Time will tell!
Royal, is a sweet and loving boy, who does not want you
out of his sight. We are working on food manners - to slow
down when eating. The fear of no food is still an issue
with him.
Royal is cat safe, but should not be placed with small
children. When he is also sleeping he tends to snap if startled
suddenly. We've learned that Royal loves to play outside
with a stuffie toy!
